Fastener Usage Tips

Choose the appropriate anti-loosening method: For different working conditions, various anti-loosening techniques can be used.

Add washers: Placing a flat washer between the nut and the connected part can protect the surface and distribute pressure. For further anti-loosening, a spring washer can be added, but note that its anti-loosening ability is limited.

Use self-locking nuts: These nuts generate friction through a nylon ring, crimping, or metal device to prevent loosening. They are suitable for vibration environments but require more effort to tighten.

Double nut anti-loosening: Use a combination of a thick nut and a thin nut, with the thick nut on top. First, tighten the lower nut to the specified torque and secure it, then tighten the upper nut to generate axial pressure and increase friction. This method is suitable for low-speed, heavy-load conditions.

Nut locking liquid: Apply thread-locking liquid to the threads before tightening the nut to effectively prevent loosening.

Pin fixation: Drill holes in bolts and nuts and add pins for mechanical locking, suitable for high-safety-requirement scenarios.

Apply torque correctly: When tightening, decide whether to apply force on the bolt head or the nut according to the specific situation.

In interference fits, large differences in bolt head and nut shapes/sizes, different material friction coefficients, or long bolt applications, torque should be applied first on the side with a smaller bearing surface or lower friction coefficient.

Use a torque wrench to ensure the design preload is achieved, avoiding over-tightening or under-tightening; some high-demand applications require the "torque + angle" method, but this may cause slight plastic deformation of the bolt, affecting reuse.

Pay attention to details and maintenance: Keep threads clean during installation to avoid damage; periodically check the fastening status of key parts, and re-tighten or replace failed components in time.
